In Taylorsville I have my resident Red-wings and yesterday I saw a Brewer's
Blackbird at the birdbath (a first). Later I heard a few twittering in the
trees. The Mourning Doves are a little less flighty right now. Nesting
seems to take away some of that desire to burst noisily from behind a bush
and scare the bejeebers out of me.

Also, Wednesday I noticed the Common Grackles are back--my Robins are not
happy about it--and the neighborhood continues to be blessed with the sweet
song of White-crowned Sparrows, visiting Black-capped Chickadees and a few
Goldfinches. The bird baths are the real hot spots and if there's any
water left in them after the Robins are through, the other birds take their
turns.

Someone is emptying the hummingbird feeder but they must be doing it at
night because I haven't seen a hummer yet. All the resident birds are busy
gathering nesting material and enjoying the beautiful weather. Spring is
the best!
