Although I don't often report birds from my yard, as there typically just aren't "great" birds at my house, today was some what of an anomaly. I spent most of the day at home and a bit outside doing yard work and birds were everywhere.
At one point I had 3 new year yard birds within 3 minutes. The Lesser Goldfinch were out in force today, as I could hear them up and down my street.
Here is what I saw today:
Lesser Goldfinch
American Goldfinch
Cedar Waxwing
Yellow-rumped Warbler
California Quail
Mourning Dove
Rock Pigeon
Canada Goose
Mallard
Downy Woodpecker
House Finch
House Sparrow
American Crow - Not in my yard but saw it for the 4th consecutive day in the northwest corner of Sugarhouse Park. It would appear this species is setting up to nest in this area, which would definitely be weird.
Good Birding
