[Birdtalk] Baby bird time

I agree that it's certainly baby bird time. This year the resident sparrow
parents have chosen to send their fledglings to the lilacs next to my deck
to learn how to maneuver from branch to branch. It's so funny to watch them
hop up and down through the bushes--teetering and flapping their wings to
keep from falling off the tiny branches. They're so darned cute!

They seem to eat everything that isn't glued down to the lilacs and deck
railing and they love to hang around the edge of the birdbath trying to get
up the nerve to take a dip. Every time a parent shows up they beg for food
but the parents are trying to ignore them and make them fend for
themselves. It's neat to be able to watch them grow and witness their new
antics.
