[Birdtalk] Ideas and suggestions needed for article on family birdwatching

I've been asked to write a series of articles this summer for the New
Utah weekly newspapers (Pleasant Grove Review, American Fork Citizen,
Lehi Free Press, Orem-Geneva Times) that focus on activites that families
can do together. This includes field trips to local parks, museums, etc.
I thought birding would be a good article--it's something that kids can
do with parents or grandparents. My children have some fond memories of
their grandmother taking them on short hikes and pointing out local
birds.

First, if you have any comments, experiences, on the benefits (and joy)
of birding with children (grandchildren) please share!
I'd also like to interview, preferrably by phone, two-three local (Utah
County) people who can share tips, anecdotes, and other information about
birding with children. I'm also planning to include at least three "Utah
County hot spots" for good summer birdwatching. My favorites are Utah
Lake for a variety of birds, and the hummingbirds at Mutual Dell in A.F.
Canyon!

This is an opportunity to share your hobby with others. Please email me
privately with comments and ideas. I'd like to do the interviews next
week.
thanks so much,
