Hello -
I just spoke with Cindy Sommerfeld. She and Steve saw a total of 44 Burrowing Owls on Antelope Island today. There were 14 around the Visitors' Center. At 3.8 miles after turning toward Garr Ranch, they counted 23 on both sides of the road. The remaining 7 were seen here and there. No owls were observed as they returned from the ranch and it had become very hot.
Other birds seen were the previously reported Whimbrel between mile markers 1 and 2 and within the first two miles of entering the causeway, 6 Semipalmated Plovers and 1 Snowy Plover. There were also Wilson's and Red-necked Phalaropes.
