I know summer is barely a month old, but there are good numbers of fall shorebirds out at Antelope Island Causeway in Davis County. I pried myself loose from the mountains and visited briefly this evening. The shorebird habitat is much better now with the lower water levels than it was this spring. I saw shorebirds from about mile 6.5 west to the No Swimming bridge.

Thousands of American Avocets are near and far on both sides of the causeway. Willets put in a strong showing and flocks of peeps coursed over the water. I also saw two distant Black-bellied Plovers on the south side, a Snowy Plover, a handful of Black-necked Stitls, Sanderlings, Western and Baird's Sandpipers, and many Wilson's Phalaropes.

The numbers of Franklin's Gulls will overwhelm you.
