After reading the e-mails, we went birding at Price Canyon Recreation
Area (Carbon Co.) today, and found several Grace's Warblers, including a
fledgling that was still being fed by adults. The fledgling was
identical to the adult, except that it's throat and breast was pale buffy
rather than yellow, and it spent most of it's time preening (and being
fed). None sang, but they were doing a lot of calling, and were
extremely active in the pines. All were seen in the day-use picnic area.
Also had nice looks at a Plumbeous Vireo cup nest with four young
inside, and a Dusky Flycatcher nest with two young inside and two very
recent fledglings sitting together nearby, all being continuously fed by
the harried parents. For the adventurous, the nature trail was a nice
hike to the ridge, with great views and birds not seen down below.
