Nine of us birded Farmington Bay today and feel fairly sure we saw a Northern Shrike. It was in one of the small trees on north side of road before reaching the "eagle trees" on the south side. Although it was facing away the field marks noted by two of us through our scopes were pale gray back and white upper tail coverts. One head turn before flying off revealed a large hooked bill. Unfortunately it flew off to the north and had not returned to the area by the time we returned from the west dike an hour or so later. Is this enough to go on for a sure ID? We oftern see Loggerheads at FB, but this bird looked different to us.
