Hi,

Bob Huntington, Bob McDougal and I went to River Lane this morning. We saw
Colby about five minutes after he saw the parula. We got a glimpse of one that
could have been but we are not sure.(I am thinking nemesis now)

Anyway we saw a lot of birds. MacGillivray's Warbler, Nashville Warbler,
Wilson's Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Townsend's Warbler, Warbling Vireo, Plumbeous
Vireo, RED-EYED VIREO, Black-capped Chickadee, Barn Owl, Common Nighthawk,
Yellow-breasted Chat, Spotted Towhee, Blue Grosbeak male and female, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher, and Western Tanager. I probably will remember a couple more
when I hit send. Yep, Virginia's Warbler.

Now for the more fun part;

When I got home I saw another adult male Rufous Hummingbird coming to my
feeders. It came back three times and I could see it sitting in a tree watching
the feeders. I decided to try for a photo using flash and see if I could get
the gorget to show. I had to take down the feeder he was coming to because it
is west of my deck and facing the sun. I knew I might not see him if I did
that. I was setting up the camera and tripod and checking the flash when a bird
brushed by hitting my shoulder. I turned around to see a Cooper's Hawk
chasing a hummingbird. Yes COOPER'S. It landed in the neighbors pine tree and in a
couple of minutes buzzed the feeder again. Missed both times. It landed
across the road in my other neighbors tree and I went to make sure which hawk it
was. Big and a rounded tail. WOW, what an encounter.

Never saw the adult rufous again.
