During the Western Birding Symposium this afternoon, we discussed revenues generated for wildlife through the sale of elk, trout, and heron license plates. Our broader community of birders might be interested in this data. The information below reflects FY 2005 revenues, obtained from Linda Braithwaite, DWR Financial Manager:
-----------------------------------
During our fiscal year FY2005, July 1, 04 thru June 30, 05, DWR collected revenue from the sale of licenses plates in the following categories:
Elk $86,594.50
Trout $43,792.00
Heron $14,084.00
for a total collection of $144,470.50. The Division of Wildlife Resources makes every effort to use the funds collected by percentage to the programs that generated the revenues. Therefore 60% of the revenue goes to the Game Section, 30% to Aquatics and the remainder 10% to Native/Sensitive Programs. These monies are generally used for species management programs.
