Hi,
David Wheeler writes that there is a lot of interest in Rufous Hummingbirds.
I'll say. I have been feeding hummers since the early 1980's and this is the
most birds I have had at once. I have no idea how many are here, but I have
two eight ounce feeders and I have to fill them each evening. There are three
or four around each one almost constantly. I thought about putting up a
couple more, but since I want to take pictures I have resisted.
The "resident" Black Chins seem to be holding their own. They get chased
away a lot, but do some chasing of their own.
I had one adult male Rufous, but he probably has left. This seems normal. An
adult male is here for a couple of days each year and then gone. This time I
was ready with the camera and got one good photo. Milt should be posting it
soon.
Fun, fun, fun.
