While I’m on-line about grackles, I should mention that we’ve also had around the house about two pairs (they never slow down enough to count) of rufous hummers, and maybe four pairs of nicely colored lesser goldfinches here this summer, in addition to regulat goldfinches, our miserable, fruit-eating Bullocks Orioles, siskins, “Opinion” jays, black chinned and broad tailed hummers, wild turkey (the bird), an eastern kingbird, our regular Says phoebe, both varieties of white crowned sparrows,  mourning doves, a brief Eurasian collared dove, black headed grosbeaks, redtailed hawks, kestrels, sharp shinned, coopers hawks, merlin, barn swallows…
