About twenty years ago (late 1980s) we had a great tailed grackle (gtg) spend the winter among our magpies here in Jensen.  He sure looked cool sitting there somberly amongst the piebald rowdies.  Winters (and summers) have been getting warmer every since.  If temperature is main driver, I’d think we would be inundated by gtgs!
