The hills around Strawberry Reservoir are covered in wildflowers. There are
lots of Swainson's Hawks and Mountain Bluebirds. If you can get up there,
do it. It's beautiful! Even the afternoon rain was wonderful with the heavy
dark clouds and the thunder rumbling across the valley.

Jordanelle Wetlands was alive with birds early this morning with lots of
fledglings crashing about. I watched a young Black-headed Grosbeak preen
himself after a dip in the water and he posed so I could get a photo of
every identifying mark--couldn't ask for better cooperation than that!
There are lots of grosbeaks, lazuli buntings, chipping sparrows, some
orioles and western tanagers, yellow-rumped warblers, MacGillivray's
warblers, yellow warblers, warbling vireos, catbirds, chickadees,
ruby-crowned kinglets, blue-gray gnatcatchers calling in the bushes,
orioles, a willow-flycatcher and I even saw a spotted sandpiper at the
river's edge.

About 45 species for the day.
