This afternoon I finally was able to find a GLOSSY IBIS. There was a flock of about 400 White-faced Ibis just west of Goshen on the north side of US50/6 in south Utah County. It took a while to sneak in close enough to closely study the birds but after a couple of hours baking in the sun, I got a great look at a breeding plumage adult GLOSSY IBIS. The lack of white bordered facial skin, along with a blue/gray tint to the area in front of the eye helped separate the bird. I think there may possibly be two birds and maybe even three. The flocks were skiddish and coupled with the constant moving around of the birds made it frustrating at best. But in the end it was worth it. At one time a GI was the closest bird of the entire flock, at about 15 yards.
There's a GREAT EGRET at the Goshen Reservoir between Goshen and Elberta, on the south side of the highway.
Good Luck and Good Birding,
Dennis
