[Birdnet] YB Loon

Thanks to all who posted the yellow-billed loon today. It was still 
there at 6:45 p.m., quite far out in the reservoir. I was hoping it 
would come into photography range, but it never did. There was a boat 
moving around, and that could be one reason why. As others did 
previously, I saw a nice group of birds as I hung out on the dam: 
osprey fishing, pelican, great blue heron, rock wren, flicker, w. 
meadowlark, barn swallow, golden eagle, CA gull, mallard, Canada goose, 
Clark's grebe, common loon, and the star of the show - yellow-billed 
loon. The YB loon could be seen clearly from the parking area, and in 
the late afternoon light, the bill showed up from a large distance. I 
have about a 10% success rate with bird chases, so this was a really 
nice result. The kids got taught, and I still got the bird! Can't beat 
that.
