The Rockport Reservoir Yellow-billed Loon was still there when I left at 6:00 p.m., Monday, 18 May. Glen Barlow, David Hanscom, Carol Gymn and another copule from Kamas (sorry but my name retention is terrible) were also there. Once located it spent most of the time with a Common Loon at on the north side of the reservoir near the dam at the mouth a little cove. It would dive frequently and stay under for quite a while. So be patient. When the fishing boats moved in the bird moved more to the center of the reservoir and dived less frequently. Also at the reservoir were several Clark's Grebes, a Rock Wren on the dam feeding its young, and a very cooperative soaring Golden Eagle. A great birding day for me. The loon was a Lifer for me as was another Lifer, the Northern Parula Warbler, I saw with Dennis Shirley's GSBF Trip. A 94 species total for the day.
Thanks,
Stephen
