Fellow birders,
This morning at 7:45 while working in my garden a pair of American Crows flew through my back yard at 391 East 1040 North, Orem, Utah. When the pair saw me they both gave a loud "crow call". Just 2 days earlier while driving to work I saw what looked like a Crow flying across 800 N, Orem, not far from where I live, but could not make a positive ID (was it a Raven?) Over the years I have seen and heard lots of Crows here in Utah County during the Winter months, but never have I seen or heard a Crow during the Spring or Summer months here in Utah County and I have lived here for near 30 years. Apparently the breeding population is expanding further south in Utah.
All you birders, please keep those Spring/Summer Utah Crow sightings coming. I am trying to keep records of their Spring/Summer presence (breeding? Likely!). What a thrill to see these birds in my neighborhood!
Sincerely,
Wayne Whaley
