There are several small lakes in Park Meadows at Park City. On Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3, I saw six ring-necked ducks on one of these ponds, five of them males in full (and gorgeous) breeding plumage. Since I was inside, I could watch them from about 50 feet away.
There are now yellow rump warblers flitting through the budding willows. A Forster's tern is patrolling the lake in front of the house and the GB herons have returned. Watched an osprey here last week.
Lots of red foxes here and a neighbor and I saw a silver/black morph strolling through the neighborhood. It appears frequently. All of this is at about 6,200 feet elev. Snow is gone, replaced by golfers bundled up like Michelin men.
