[Birdnet] bobolinks

At least a half-dozen bobolinks were still in the Heber location
reported previously by Pat Jividen. They were very vocal, even in the
afternoon. Also present in the same area was a sandhill crane, savannah
sparrow, and numerous meadowlarks and RW blackbirds. I took a quick
spin over to the Charleston area. An osprey was on the nest by the
Cascade Springs railroad stop. Deer Creek is as high as I've ever seen
it, with water going clear to the Charleston bridge. The Charleston
area used to be really birdy, but it isn't anymore. Since they put in
the golf course and all of the Olympic stuff, the birds pretty much
cleared out. Guess they aren't too interested in cross-country skiing
in the right season or in sheepdog competitions. . .

I didn't spend much time at the Jordanelle BOR area due to the strong
winds. Birds seen or heard there include catbird, yellow warblers
everywhere, northern flicker, swallows, and Kent Lewis, He alerted me
to a pair of sandhills just across from the BOR in some tall grasses
(aren't the grasses tall everywhere this year?) Speaking of sandhills,
the pair at Snyderville Basin have a chick. They are visible from the
frontage road. Maybe if you are really quick, you can see the adults
from I-80 if a semi doesn't run you down first.
