I birded the Antelope Island Causeway, and nearly all of the rarities
had gone elsewhere. The 3 Long-tailed Ducks were still at the bridge
closest to the island on the north side. A passing Peregrine got the
hundreds of Shovelers all excited. Raptors were definitely the birds of
the day with a Kestrel (with prey) perched on a sign, a Rough-legged
Hawk sitting atop a pole, 3 Bald Eagles hanging out on the ice, and
several Northern Harriers cruising around. One Harrier was pretty much
staying put near the bridge by the island. In looking at my photos, I
realized why. There were wings from some type of prey that were visible
between some rocks close to the Harrier. She didn't want to desert her
lunch for long. Other ducks present were a Ruddy, several Buffleheads,
Green-winged Teal, Common Goldeneye, and the aforementioned hundreds of
Shovelers. One Eared Grebe was on the north side of the bridge. (There
were likely more - have you ever seen just one Eared Grebe at that
location)? There were Chukars, White-crowned Sparrows, and Red-winged
Blackbirds at the visitor's center feeder. I didn't see any shorebirds
at all. I looked for "Snow Bunnies" (snow buntings) again to no avail.
They heard I was coming and either hid or split.

At the Kaysville ponds were lots of noisy people and the duck species
that were mentioned a few days ago. Common Grackles were there in
numbers, as were Crows. At least 6 Common Mergansers were in the canal
north of the Select Health building at Lake Park in Salt Lake County.
