Bryan and I also saw the sandhills late this afternoon -- three of
them, in a flock of geese that were feeding in a field where manure
had been spread. Same area Jason and Reinhard found them -- from 3200
West turn west on 2600 North; the field is at about 3800 West. -Nancy

I just wanted to add a couple things to this report... When we went
looking in the cemetery (where Ryan O'Donnell first reported huge
flocks earlier this week), we found a huge group of Red Crossbills
with only a couple White-wingeds mixed in. After a bit of searching,
we found the White-wingeds in a short Spruce stand and we were able to
get really close to them. My best guess is that there were equal
numbers of total Red and White-winged Crossbills, maybe 20-30 of each.

Near the Crossbills were good numbers of Cedar Waxwings and Robins
(although in different trees).

Lastly, after a dozen trips, I finally saw the canal Western
Screech-Owl out in the sun.

Here are a couple photos from today, mainly of Crossbills. No photos
of Sandhills - they were too far away.
