Paul Higgins sought out WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS in Ogden Valley, Weber
County, this morning, and came across a flock of about one hundred birds in
the Huntsville City Park. The spruce trees there are probably the tallest
and most mature in the town and guarantee a neck-borne charley horse as you
attempt to watch the birds feeding in the cones among the spires.
The city park is located south of 100S. in Huntsville. As you turn west off
SR-39 toward the town center, just keep your eye out south of 100S for the
tall spruces and take any south turn in that direction. Paul said the birds
primarily used the spruces at the north end of the park near the school.
