The Western Gull was at the south end of Farmington Bay. Recall that you can drive south untlil you get to closed gates, then you turn right (west) across a bridge, and there's a small parking lot? I parked my truck on the that bridge, facing east, on the left (wrong) side of the bridge, and watched about 50 gulls and pelicicans feeding on fish. The sun was out, behind me, so the lighting was perfect. The gulls were only 20 feet away. Good luck!Doug

Well, I can see red on the bottom half of the bill but the bird's eye is yellow - that's the part that throws me. The gull behind it also has a yellow eye and appears to be a Ring-billed. could the mystery bird be some kind of hybrid? Where are those gull experts out there?!
Hope to get to see the Western Gull this weekend if it's not snowing. Doug, about where was it? (Of course it could be anywhere tomorrow).
