Had a pretty good afternoon bird walk at Sugarhouse Park, despite the crowds. Located WESTERN TANAGER and DOWNY WOODPECKER nests. Found the woodpecker nest with the help of starlings who were battling for home rights. Also present were YELLOW WARBLER and DUSKY FLYCATCHER along the creekside. The pond had DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, KILLDEER and SPOTTED SANDPIPER along with the park regulars. Folks are stting up for the "Strut Your Mutt" event tomorrow. I thought Salt Lake City already had a designated dog park a bit east of Sugarhouse.
