[Birdnet] Western kingbird

If you want to do some heavy birding in downtown, seriously check out the temple grounds, the area on the southside of the church office building, and around the conference center. It won't be like birding at Garr Ranch or Parley's Gulch, but there iwll be migrants this time of year. Migrating birds over the downtown area at firts light are looking for places to get food immediately. They really don't care where as long as there is something to eat. The window deaths are an unfortunate aside. Birds see the reflection of trees and the sky and usually mistakenly crash, and there is a lot of glass in downtown Salt Lake.
While living in Indianapolis in 2006 I was shocked to find out the Stat Capitol Grounds in downtown Indy was a birding hot spot during migration. It didn't have all that many trees, or shrubs, but being in the middle of a sprawl of concrete and glass it was a welcome stop over for migrants. In the first week I worked there I found nearly 10 dead migrants, ranging from Palm, Yellow, Orange-crowned and Blackpoll Warbler, to Red-eyed Vireo, and Indigo Bunting. I also saw more than 20 species of live warbler, and heard reports of Sora on multiple occasions in the shrubs around the building.. Strange.
My guess about the kingbird is that its probably nesting in the area.

Just when I thought you really couldn't see much in down town SLC. I saw a western kingbird hawking bugs over by art space on 5th west. Sadly I also found a western tanager that had struck the windows above the ticket office at Abravanel hall and killed itself.
