I had a male Common Grackle visit the yard feeders this afternoon. I had
one who visited 2 years ago in May and stayed for a couple weeks. I wonder if
it is the same bloke.

I have an abundant flock of Lazuli's this Spring. I thought the first wave
of 16 males was impressive, but now I have no less than 30 males, in various
stages of molting... and at least 15-20 females. They drain the feeders
daily, but they are worth it.

I had 40-50 goldfinches until a couple weeks ago, but now they have all but
disappeared. I think I was the only one offering nyger seed in the area, so
they all came here. A few Pine Sisken remain.

The Bullock's are fun to watch. I have 3 males fighting over the
hummingbird feeder and over the female Orioles. Hopefully this year, they'll bring
their babies to my yard again. Time to stock up on sugar. So far, I only have
Black-chinned and Broad-tailed hummingbirds. The Rufous haven't showed up
yet.

The spring Warblers have been the usual colorful arrivals. Audubon's,
Yellow, Wilson's, and this year was the first time I had a MacGillivray's at the
yard feeder. She was following a male Wilson's around the yard.

I'm swamped with Eurasian Collared and Mourning Doves. I seem to have a
constant flock of 15-20 Collared doves. They stay year-round, and one is a
leucistic - very pretty. The Mourning doves arrived in force about 15 Apr. I
haven't seen a Rock Dove in over 2 years. The one I had in the yard 3 years
ago was banded, and that's the only one I've seen. No complaints...

This turned out longer than I had intended - only meaning to report the
Grackle. I always enjoy reading what everyone else is seeing in their area.
Thanks.
