Ordinarily a black phoebe isn't a big deal, or at least, not in the
southern part of the state. But it's a different story in the northern
portion of the state. A black phoebe was spotted at 16:05 today in the
Diamond campground, site #22. Diamond campground is about 5 miles up
Diamond Fork, which is itself found several miles up Spanish Fork
canyon. The bird was extremely skittish. I never managed to get closer
than about 100' or so. But it was easily viewed with binoculars for
about 10 minutes. I also have several photographs that aren't great but
which are more than clear enough to easily corroborate the identification.
