Saw and heard our first Yellow-headed Blackbird of the season at Farmington Bay Sunday afternoon. He was in beautiful voice and was adorned with a bright orange band. Does this band have significance for anybody? In addition to the Blackbird we had a pair of Tree Swallows(first of season), Sandhill Cranes, all of the usual ducks, including the Eurasion Widgeon in the east pond, and an estimated 1,000 American White Pelicans. Other hightlights included three Tundra Swan, possibly making their last apperance at Farmington, the precision drill of nesting Great Blue Herons at the rookery, and a pair of Kestrels atop nesting box #2.
Good Birding
