[Birdnet] Mockingbirds in Utah

I have seen them on Antelope Island, 2 years ago in September there were a lot of them out there. I have also seen them in St George, Fish Springs and once at Cove Fort.

Hi David and all,
This is very interesting.  I grew up in Delaware (first 24 years) and
mockingbirds are common there; in fact they're all over the eastern
seaboard in every city, town and countryside.  Our community had
mockingbirds at about every third home in our rural housing development.
A few years ago I found that they are common in a similar way in Palm
Springs, CA, and other S. Cal. towns; and they singing day and night
there also.  I love to hear the song of a male mockingbird in the
morning and even at midnight, because it congers memories of home.  I
know of no place in Utah where one can see them on a regular basis --
except for one!  That place is Black Boy Mine in the Drum Mountains,
Juab Co..  Several years ago I went there many time during early Spring
through Summer on a research project and every day I saw and heard a
pair of mockingbirds.  I have often wondered if they are still there and
David's post has stimulated my interest in going back to Black Boy Mine
just to see if they are still there.  Does anyone know of another Utah
location where one can see (and of course hear) mockingbirds in Utah on
a regular basis?  I would be interested in hearing from you.

Mockingbirds still in SLC Avenues:
This a.m. I once again saw my mockingbird. This time it was across the
back fence, standing on the roof of a neighboring garage. Suddenly I
feel like I live in Santa Rosa, CA where there is a mockingbird on EVERY
garage. David Jensen
