Thanks for the numerous responses back channel with advice about where to
get target birds! Well, the bast laid plans...
We ended up seeing the Black-headed Grosbeak at City Cemetery and a Scrub
Jay and Downy Woodpecker in our son's yard. But, we were too busy with home
projects to stray any further from his home and Home Depot among other
shops. We did walk around his neighborhood in the evenings and saw many
California Quail, and some with chicks the size of my thumb. Very Cute!!!
Thanks again. Birding will have to wait for another visit!

Peace!
Craig and Dale

We have been keeping an eye on Utah Bird listserves in anticipation of our
visits to Utah.
We are coming from Arkansas to visit our son, living in "the Avenues." We
would like to try birding up City Creek and/or city Cemetery. Any
possibility of seeing any Grouse; Northern Pygmy-Owl; Northern Saw-whet Owl;
Virginia's Warbler; Black-headed Grosbeak; Hammond's, Gray, Cordilleran or
Dusky Flycatcher; or Green-tailed Towhee? Any suggestions for specific
locations?

Thank you for any responses.
