Yesterday Jeff and I birded the Mirror Lake Highway. We had hoped to make it to Mirror Lake but the road is still closed. Birding highlights included a BLACK ROSY FINCH at the base of Bald Mt. We had to hike through a bit of snow to get to the cliff side, but our efforts were rewarded. On our way home we saw an OSPREY chick screaming for dinner in a nest near the "Victory Ranch" development south of Jordanelle. After birding the Jordanelle wetlands area which was completely devoid of waterfowl but alive with warblers and blackbirds, we made our last stop at Potters Lane. There we heard at least a half-dozen BOBOLINK singing their little hearts our accompanied by a bovine chorus.
Good Birding,
Shelly
