Stephanie Cobbold and I birded around Cache Valley this afternoon. The
highlight was certainly a flock of about 400 Horned Larks on Highway 23
about a quarter mile south of the intersection with 3000 N which
included at least 14 (probably 30+) LAPLAND LONGSPURS, at least 4
(probably 10+) GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES, and at least 2 SNOW BUNTINGS.
Last I heard, Craig Fosdick, Mo Correll, and Hillary White were on their
way to try to relocate these birds.
Other notable birds around the valley included Tundra Swans continuing
at the 20-20 ponds, a Greater Yellowlegs continuing at the Logan Fish
Hatchery, a (probably feral) Red-Crested Pochard at the Logan River Golf
Course, and a Prairie Falcon at Willow Park Zoo (not in a cage).
Good birding,
Ryan
