Carol-

They look like basic-plumaged Wilson's Phalaropes to me. The bills are too
long for either Red or Red-necked Phalarope, and too thin for Red
Phalarope. The overall plumage pattern matches Wilson's pretty well, and
neither bird has any dark gray or black on either the crown or behind the
eyes. Basic-plumaged Red Phalaropes have a white forehead with dark grey on
the back half of the crown, and they also have a relatively thick bill and a
blackish ear patch. Basic-plumaged Red-necked Phalaropes are similar to Red
Phalaropes in that they also have white foreheads with dark grey cap, and a
blackish ear patch. Their bills are thinner than Red-necked Phalaropes.

I say Wilson's Phalaropes for both birds. Anybody else?
