Stephen-
I had American Pipits at the hatchery yesterday morning (forgot to mention);
forgot to mention that. No idea how common they are in January, would
imagine not terribly. Had the Great Egret, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 4
Wilson's Snipe and no dowitcher at the Fish Hatchery. Any idea what the
second dowitcher was?
Craig.
Logan, Utah.

This past Friday, I went on a field trip with Alice Lindahl's class
and one of our stops was the fish hatchery. Great Egret was there, as well as
two Dowitchers
and single American Pipit, foraging along the muddy banks of the slough.
The pipit seems to me to be out of season here in Cache Valley.
Has anyone else seen pipits on a regular basis during January in Northern Utah?
Stephen
