[Birdnet] Kaysville and Causeway

The Kaysville ponds were "crawling" (swimming?) with hooded mergansers
today. There were at least 15 and probably more hiding among the reeds.
There were also canvasbacks, goldeneye, wigeons, gadwall, ring-necks,
mallards, and a pintail. So if you need hoodies for your new year's
list, this is the right place. Maybe that last phrase will become
famous someday.

Along the Antelope Island Causeway, there was a nice flock of horned
larks at about MM 6. Couldn't turn any into longspurs or buntings. Also
seen along the causeway or at the visitor's center were green-winged
teal and thousands of shovelers at the last bridge. A bald eagle came
in and sat on the ice for a while. I was not expecting to see 2 winter
plumage Wilson's phalaropes just before MM 3 on the north side. How
often do they stick around in the winter? There were also numerous
harriers and a rough-legged hawk along the causeway.

The visitor's center feeders hosted white-crowned sparrows and lots of
chukars.

Best wishes to Kris!
