Hi All,
I talked to Kristin's husband, John, and he says she's doing very well. They plan to keep her in the hospital for 7-10 days, not because the doctors are concerned for her, but because they need to keep her neck and back immobile. Injuries to the vertebrae are in the upper back, but there seems to be no spinal cord damage. She can move all extremities just fine. They did an MRI today, and should get results back soon.
When she gets out of the hospital, she'll need to wear a back brace for anywhere from 2 to10 weeks, depending on healing. No other bones were broken. It could have been so much worse!
John says visitors are fine - maybe starting tomorrow - and that visiting hours are from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please don't all rush at once, however! She's on morphine, and slips in and out of snoozing quite a bit, but is very coherent when she's awake.
She's at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Room 3213.
I told John to pass on to Kris that all of her birding friends are thinking of her, and wish her a speedy recovery. And of course, I know she'll have plenty of visitors.
