Red-tailed Hawks do hang around that field a lot. The one I saw, and the one that Connie saw sounds like the same one. I definitely saw the Red-shouldered hawk, with the crescent near the wing tips, the banding on the flight feathers in the wings and tail, as well as the bib of dark streaks.
I've checked both Sibley and Kaufman guides, and feel assured that this is the Red-shouldered Hawk. Good luck in looking for it.

Shelly Spencer and I caught a glimpse of this individual on our way to Farmington Bay on Monday. We believe it is a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk. The photographs were shot with our seasonal filter--smog. The images can be viewed here: http://chickadeetrails.com/<http://chickadeetrails.com/>
