[Birdnet] Red-shouldered Hawk

Jeff,

The hawk in your pictures appears to be a Red-tailed Hawk.  In the second shot you can see the tail, which lacks the distinctive bands in of a BWHA.  Also, the same image shows a slight belly band, found on SW and western Red-tailed Hawks.

  Shelly Spencer and I caught a glimpse of this individual on our way to Farmington Bay on Monday. We believe it is a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk. The photographs were shot with our seasonal filter--smog. The images can be viewed here: http://chickadeetrails.com/
