I left home this morning about 8:15 am. As I drove over the bridge at Park lane in Farmington, I saw a raptor in a tree. This is the same spot that the Summerfields saw the Red Shouldered Hawk on Sunday. So I pulled over and looked through binoculars. I had studied up on red shouldered on Sunday when I was looking for the bird (and trying to make Red Tailed Hawks be Red Shouldered). This bird is a Red Shouldered Hawk, I believe. It had lots of spotting down the back and not the typical V of a red tailed. Also, when it flew, it had the crescent of lighter feathers near the base of the primaries. Just under the throat is the zig zag crossing of dark on light. It seems that this is the bird. Of course, traffic was bad and I was on my way to work, so I watched for about 2 minutes through binoculars only. It flew once. Not the best looks and I am always questioning myself. Worth a look for anyone around the area. The snow might move it on.
Park Lane is off the Highway 89 exit near Lagoon. From the highway exit, turn west and the bird is on the North side in a tree near a fenced area that looks like it has pheasant in it.
