Members of Wasatch Audubon saw some nice birds this morning at Willard Bay
State Park in Box Elder County, including a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER. I forgot to
ask the sex/age of the bird, but it was in the park's sewage treatment pond
north of the park's entrance, along with eight or nine HOODED MERGANSERS.
All but one of the hoodies were hens. There were also a few GREATER
YELLOWLEGS at that pond.

The park's south marina hosted a flock of 150 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, and both
Common and Red-breasted Mergansers were out on the water. Other big birds in
the park included a Great Horned Owl , Bald Eagles and Red-tailed Hawks. I
understand the group found very few small birds in the campground areas or
along the nature trail.

Willard Bay State Park is located at I-15 exit 357.
