Had a good morning aftter a late start.

Started at Little Dell and found the RED-NECKED GREBE previously reported. Also present on the lake were COOT, CANADA GEESE, EARED GREBE, RING-NECKED DUCK, MALLARD and a single COMMON LOON. I also heard KILLDEER. Walking on the trail alongside the creek I spotted numerous AMERICAN ROBIN a couple of TOWNSEND SOLITAIRE a FOX SPARROW, three SPOTTED TOWHEE. A GREATER SAGE-GROUSE hen stood in the middle of the trail just before the bridge that crosses the creek. It stood motionless for a moment and then flew off into the thick vegetation. On my way back to the parking lot I saw a RED-NAPEDED SAPSUCKER and heard AMERICAN TREE SPARROW and BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE. As usuall, BLACK-BILLED MAGPIES were everywhere.

Before heading back to town I scoped Mt. Dell and found BARN SWALLOW, AMERICAN GOLDFINCH near the road. The lake produced BUFFLEHEAD, MALLARD, RING-NECKED DUCK and WESTERN GREBE.

Good Birding,

Jay
