I know of pheasant farms in Corrinne (15 miles away)
and in Paradise (20 miles away). The Paradise farm
releases tens of thousands of birds a year. The
birds in Paradise are cage raised so they are not
particularly accustomed (at first) to avoiding predators.

If the farms are only releasing male birds, they may
not have much of an impact other than competing with
females for resources.

I'd attribute it to the two species liking the
same type of habitat: Open areas with a few
shrubs close to the urban/rural interface.
