After being out of cell coverage for 2 days, I checked my voicemail this morning
on a mountaintop south of Strawberry Reservoir only to find a slew of messages
about the Grebe in Orem. Thanks to those who tried to get me word! As if a
sign from the birding gods, my dad and I were forced to head back to Salt Lake
with car problems ( a day early), giving me the opportunity to run down to Orem
this afternoon and see the bird. A Utah lifer, and stunning bird that I was
surprised to see still molting, mostly in breeding plumage! I snapped some
shots through my SLR and digiscoped and video'd some more through my scope
(check for video on Birdtalk shortly!)

There wasn't much else in terms of bird activity. Around a half dozen
Pied-billed Grebes, one Aechmophorus Grebe, that looked like a Western, and a
flock of Brewer's Blackbirds!
Thanks Merrill for a great find!
Cheers
