Hey all, just wanted to correct a few things:
The only problem I see with a date guide for a county
is that Utah has altitude migrants, so a bird WOULD
only be unusual during certain dates at certain
altitudes, and this would be difficult to do. Also
Utah is a large state and birders travel all over - a
summary of sightings and dates might not have
significance if it were done for the whole state, but
may not have a appeal if it were only done for
specific counties. Comments?
example:
Common Loon: 2 at (location) on the (date) F(first of
migration) and 10 there (max # for migration) on
(date) were noteworthy; 3 at (location) L (last of
migration).
Not every species need be included, unless something
noteworthy were seen (such as an aberrant individual
or high concentration, or interesting behavior etc).
So the common species wouldn't always be included.
Example: American Robin: 1 ALBINO individual at
(location) on (date).
Comments?
Matt
