A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW (white-striped morph albeit a little dingy) was at
Willard Bay State Park today on the embankment of the channel east of Willow
Creek Campground campsite #34. It was keeping company with two adult
White-crowned Sparrows.
Other birds of interest:
A flock of eight Common Mergansers.
Three Semi-palmated Plovers at the marina; the only other shorebird species
there was Killdeer.
A few COMMON TERNS still interspersed with the Forster's resting on rocky
bars along the shoreline.
Two Red-naped Sapsuckers; one was an adult male and one a juvenile female.
Both were using trees along the channel south of the Nature Trail day use
parking lot.
Cordilleran Flycatcher along the north border of Eagle Beach.
A Golden-crowned Kinglet; first I've seen this low in awhile, and many
Ruby-crowned Kinglets.
Lots of American Robins and a few Cedar Waxwings feasting on Russian Olives.
The park was alive with Yellow-rumped Warblers; also saw four Orange-crowned
and three Wilson's.
The park was very birdy today mostly due to the robins and butter butts.
Take those species away and it was OK.
Willard Bay State Park is located at I-15 exit 357.
