A very handsome male rose-breasted grosbeak was seen along Cherry Creek at
about 10 a.m. this morning. It was flushed up out of the tops of the willows
when a yellow warbler lit very near to it, long enough for me to get a very
good look at it but not long enough for me to grab my camera.
I spent over an hour waiting for the bird to reappear but to no avail.
Cherry Creek is about 10 miles west of the north entrance to the Little
Sahara Sand Dunes and provides some lovely dense, willow riparian vegetation
in the middle of the pinion-juniper desert.
