This morning I ventured down to Springville hopeful the birds were still
around (the initial post to the Utah County List was almost 3 weeks ago
and I figured the birds were long gone). After a little trouble getting
to the area described by Alona, "The birds are usually seen hanging
around in Chinese Elm trees in the area of 1195 South and 700 East", I
arrived and began looking around. For the first 45 minutes there was a
lot of bird noise including several calls that sounded like Evening
Grosbeak. It was awfully windy and the light was terrible. Finally 2
birds flew across 700 east, that looked right, and landed in the trees
at 1180 South. I hurried and set my scope up and digiscoped of the
female and the male (the female turned out a lot better, but both could
have used much better light).

I attempted to get to a better vantage point for a closer shot with
better lighting, but by the time I moved I could no longer see the
birds, or hear any calling. I stayed for another 45 minutes waiting and
checking out the trees, but didn;t see anything else. Also of note were
about 6 Cassin's Finches hanging out across the street form 1180 South
in the top of a tree. Both species of Goldfinch, and Lazuli Bunting
were hanging around, Broad-tailed Hummingbirds flew by it seemed like
every 4 minutes, and Yellow and Yellow-rumped Warbler were both seen
and heard.

I ran over to River Lane which was rather quiet, minus 3 chattering
Orioles and a couple Yellow Warblers. As I left I rolled up on 3
Western Kingbirds which were quite cooperative for pictures... Again,
too bad the light wasn't better!
