Sorry for the late post, just rolled into Salt Lake 15 minutes ago. The
LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH in Dammeron Valley was seen again today in the a.m.
by Jack Binch and Larry Tripp. I received a call from Bob Lawson at
10:30 telling me the bird had showed back up at his backyard feeders. I
was unfortunately in the middle of the Beaver Dam Wash about 3 miles
from my car. I called Rick Fridell who was able to make his way to
Bob's by 12:30, but just missed the bird. I made it back to Bob's
around 1:00 and watched the feeders till 4:00 but the bird didn't
return. I believe Jack was able to get some shots, and Bob showed me a
few more of his wonderful images of this gem.

The bird was associating with a flock of Lesser Goldfinches and both
times it was seen (today and yesterday) it arrived with a flock. It
would appear that there are several flocks moving around the Dammeron
Valley area which would account for the birds random appearances. Carol
Davis has posted more of Bob's shots here:

IF you are interested in chasing this bird, please call Bob first to
make sure that it is okay to visit. Please respect he and his wifes
privacy. Here is the information on how to reach him from Carol's email.

Message: Bob Lawson in Dammeron Valley in Southern Utah sent me a
picture of
what he thought was an American Goldfinch but it is in reality a Lawrence's
Goldfinch. The photo was taken 3-20-07 in his back yard. He may be
emailed at
boblaw at infowest.com or phoned at 1-435-5743335.

Good Birding
