This is my first post to Birdnet: Not to report a rarity, but to report my observations regarding range expansion of the European Collared Dove, and the Sandhill Crane.

I live in Venice, Utah, a small village on the Sevier R. about 5 miles northeast of Richfield.

European Collared Dove. The first ones came to Venice in 2005. There are now many-dozens... more Collared doves than Mourning doves.

Sand Hill Crane. All the information I can find show them not breeding in southern Utah. We have had a pair living in the sloughs and pastures south of town for the last 7 years, at least. They were successful in fledging 2 offspring in 2005. Both offspring returned with them in 2006. Three birds returned in 2007. We hear their calls from early March to late October.

Venice also got its first pair of wild turkeys this year. They strut around like they own the place.

Looking forward to watching birdnet at utahbirds.org
